Functional surfaces for the electrical industry and electromobility
Decades of experience
In addition to its expertise in the electroplating of plastics, SAXONIA Galvanik has been an experienced supplier of surfaces for the electrical industry for decades. With electromobility and rapidly increasing demand for hybrid and electric vehicles, the field of application and plating solutions have again expanded significantly in recent years.
Together with leading process and equipment suppliers, technologies and plating solutions have been specifically adapted to applications in electromobility that have special requirements for the transmission of high electrical power or whose copper and aluminium components must withstand high currents for power transmission.
The first large-scale production series for automotive applications have been running through our facilities since 2022.
Plant and process technologies
Production of products on racks and barrels is possible in our modern facilities. Components up to well over one metre in length can be coated. Equipped with detailed batch and parameter monitoring, as well as extensive technical laboratory equipment for bath analysis and monitoring, the high demands of the automotive and electronics industries are met. To ensure and monitor the high quality of the deposited layers, extensive testing equipment is available to determine layer thicknesses, adhesive strength, climate resistance and solderability.
The large-scale plant, which was newly invested in 2023, also impresses with its special energy and resource efficiency, which is why it received grants by BAFA.
The following plating technologies are currently available:
- Basic materials: copper and copper alloys, others on request
- Silver plating
- Tin plating
- Nickel plating, also as an intermediate layer in combination with the above-mentioned processes
- Passivation, as protection for subsequent surface treatments
- Selective Plating
We thus offer tailor-made solutions according to customer requirements for
- Transmission of high electrical power at connection points by reducing contact resistance at screwed and soldered connections
- Reliable suppression of whisker formation and thus protection against unintentional short circuits
- Extensive support right from the start of the project
- Possibility of manufacturing first prototypes

Flexibility and speed in the sample phases

Capacities
As recently as 2023, SAXONIA Galvanik GmbH has significantly expanded its capacity for functional metal coating. With the possibility of working in 7-day/24-hour operation as well as further expansion areas at the site, we are in a position to further adapt our capacities to your growing needs.
An already efficient large waste water plant for the entire industrial site is also ideally equipped to treat waste water in an environmentally friendly and safe manner.
